School Program

The Association has appointed Susie Reynolds to a new part time Development Officer position to run the 'in-school' programs.Susie comes to the Association with a wealth of experience in schools (as a teacher) as well as a long history as a player, coach and umpire.Susie will bring a fresh approach to running the 'in-schools' programs and we look forward to the benefits she can provide clubs by maintaining/improving links between schools and clubs.If you have specific schools you would like targeted, please contact the office to ensure they are contacted and programs arranged to suit.

The SCISSA program (Independent School Sports) which has been running for 3 years will continue to run from mid March for approx. 11 weeks involving school children, in most cases, playing hockey for the first time.

Our 'new' U7 and U9 program starts from 10 April and will run for 10 weeks in conjunction with a Hook in2 Hockey program. This will also provide an opportunity for schools to get involved and provide a pathway for new players into clubs.

If you require assistance with your junior programs or would like more information on our Hook in2 Hockey programs, please contact the Office.

Opportunties also exist for club members to get involved with the Active After School Care program. Please contact the office for more details.

Hook in 2 Hockey program

This is Hockey Australia's branded program for all new players into our sport. It is the perfect introduction to hockey regardless of age or experience.

For a low cost of $50 the player will receive a Hook in2 Hockey pack including stick & ball, shin guards OR apparel pack including T'shirt and hat PLUS a showbag of goodies plus 5 weeks of small group coaching.

To register for this program contact the office for a registration form. Next program due to start from 10 April.

Coach Education

Club coaching workshops can be arranged at any time to discuss coaching topics relevant to individual clubs or coaches. These can be held at your home ground or the hockey centre at Buderim.

Hockeyed is the new name given to the old accreditation course. Both Community & Beginner coaching courses are available on line with Hockey Australia. Some practical assessment is still required to complete the course.

The new coaching levels are:

  • COMMUNITY
  • BEGINNER
  • DEVELOPMENT
  • ADVANCED
  • HIGH PEFORMANCE

    Coaches can also complete the general principles component of the accreditation course by logging onto: http://www.ausport.gov.au/ and once in the coach official section register and complete the course on line.

    A number of coaching articles are listed to the right and contain up to date coaching articles to help with your development.

  • Player Development

    A major part of the role involves assisting all representative teams with preparation for the various tournaments and State Championships they contest during the year.

    This may involve overviewing planning, fitness testing (if required,assist with training sessions and providing feedback to both players and coaches.

    During the year, player talent identified at either State or local level will be invited to attend small group skill sessions to help with their development.

    Pre season and off season developments camps are also held to assist interested players with both skill technique and game related activities.
